Peter Hessler (also known as 何伟 in China ) is American writer and journalists. He is the author of three acclaimed books about China and has contributed numerous articles to The New Yorker and the National Geographic. In 2011, Hessler received a MacArthur Foundation "genius grant". His China trilogy is considered to be the best reporting over the last decade of the complexities of ordinary people’s daily experiences behind China’s dramatic socio-economic growth.
